International players in Ranji Session

New rule of BCCI to allow 4 outstation players including one from overseas, gave Bengal a chance to include Muralitharan in their squad. Yes it looks strange but it is true. News is that Murli will very soon sign the contract with Bengal for Rangi Session. Inclusions of Muralitharan in Begal team will not only strength the Bengal Ranji team but also the India domestic cricket. Inclusion of quality player in the Rangi team will give exposer to domestic player which will in raise the standard of India domestic cricket.

Inclusion of international player will also bring crowd for the game. This will create extra pressure on the selector to select right player in the national team. This was evident during the IPL where because of good performance in one popular tournament, many players like Oza and Ghoni finds place in the senior team. It also gives many players like Raina to come back in international squad. How many players got place in India senior team after one Ranji session?

It is often seen that some player who consistently do well in the domestic cricket does not able to optimize the opportunity on inclusion at international level. One of the main reasons of this is the difference in the quality of game in these two levels of game. BCCI new decision will help to minimize this difference of level. Now local talent will get opportunity to bat or bowl against a international player.

BCCI has just taken one step for improvement of Indian domestic cricket. Many things yet has to be done. One step which will definitely improve the domestic cricket standard is to limit the number of team. This will definitely improve the standard of each team and hence the quality of the game.
