Opening day of IPL and two big upset where last year finalist losing their opening matches. It is great to see the way Mumbai Indian and Royal Challenge, not having a great first season of IPL, coming hard straightway in the second edition. These two great matches, indicates a tough and exiting tournament ahead.
Venue of Indian Premier League is South Africa, being an Indian, this thought does not give any pleasure to me but after seeing the opening day matches, I release it not so bad. I always like the cricket where batsman struggle for their run and for their wicket. South Africa condition is exactly like that and is very evident from the today’s matches. Today we saw the bowl swing especially in the start, which along with a lot bounce makes the condition touch for batsman asking then for intelligent and classy cricket. Also the turn got by the spinner indicates a lot is there for spinner also. This is also evident from the bowling figure of three spinners Harbajan, Warne and Anil Kumble.
The classy inning of Sachin and Rahul shows how to bat in these conditions. They show, twenty-20 is not the game of power only but it needs class and talent also. The things which l like most in their approach is they never thrown their wickets, they always play with a mind set to play till end. It is pleasure to watch these geniuses of cricket playing like that.
Today for the first time we see Dhoni captaincy under pressure, especially with the team selection. He ended with playing with one extra unused bowler. Also we found Warne in a dilemma to go for defensive or attractive field, after getting early wickets. This gives a chance to Challengers to come back into the game with a competitive score. All these indicate a exciting month ahead where each match player getting used to the new condition.
